When a Conversation Becomes Paid Work
Earn on Harbor-1 pays for conversations you choose to share. Private chat stays private until that choice.
Getting paid for a conversation only means something if the unpaid ones stay yours.
On Harbor-1 the default is private chat. Open-weight models run on GPUs Harbor runs itself. The prompt is encrypted in transit and at rest. Nothing in that mode is offered to a buyer.
Earn is the point where the conversation can become work. You turn it on, and you choose what to share. Harbor pays in USDC or Harbor API credits for those shares. The switch does not apply to chats you leave private, and it does not apply to chats from before you opted in.
People sometimes describe this as a private chat with a marketplace attached. The order matters. The marketplace does not read the private chat. The share is a separate act, with a payment and a limit you set. A product that only runs private inference never has to make that distinction, because it never pays anyone for the text. Harbor does, so the two states have to stay visibly apart.
Real-world capture sits beside this, not inside it. A mission to record a task is not a chat log. It has a brief, a review, and a payout for what is accepted. Buyers license that material through Harbor Enterprise. Contributors take it through Collect.
Harbor-1 is where Earn lives. Collect is the capture work.
