Contributor Privacy Notice
How Harbor processes personal data when you apply to or participate in contributor programs.
This Contributor Privacy Notice explains how Harbor ("Harbor", "we", "us") processes personal information when you apply to, onboard with, or participate in Harbor contributor or expert programs.
It supplements our Website Privacy Policy. Where this notice is more specific to contributor programs, it controls for those activities.
1. Categories of personal data
- Application and identity — name, contact details, location/residency, CV or work history, skills, languages, portfolio links, and identity verification materials
- Vetting and compliance — screening results, eligibility checks, tax and payout details, and communications during onboarding
- Program performance — task assignments, submissions, quality scores, revision history, acceptance/rejection outcomes, and feedback
- Capture and annotation data — egocentric or other multimodal recordings you submit, annotations, labels, evaluations, and associated metadata (including device, timestamp, and contextual fields)
- Communications — messages with Harbor staff, interview recordings or transcripts where used, and support tickets
- Technical data — app/device logs, IP address, and security events related to program tools
2. Purposes of processing
- Assess applications and match Contributors to programs
- Operate capture, annotation, validation, and evaluation workflows
- Measure quality, prevent fraud, and improve program operations
- Process payments and maintain financial records
- Fulfil client deliverables under enterprise agreements
- Meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations
- Build and maintain provenance and identity features (such as longitudinal contributor history) where disclosed in program materials and permitted by law
3. Legal bases
- Contract — performing Contributor Terms and program engagements
- Legitimate interests — quality assurance, security, product improvement, and client delivery, balanced against your rights
- Consent — where required for particular recordings, marketing, or sensitive processing
- Legal obligation — tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements
4. Sharing
We may share contributor-related personal data with:
- Service providers (hosting, payments, communications, identity verification)
- Enterprise clients and their authorised processors, where necessary to deliver a program you joined — often in pseudonymised or aggregated form where feasible, but sometimes with identifying details when vetting or audit requires it
- Professional advisers and authorities as required by law
5. International transfers
Contributor data may be processed in the UK, EEA, US, and other countries where Harbor or providers operate, using appropriate transfer safeguards where required.
6. Retention
We retain contributor records for the duration of your relationship and thereafter as needed for audit, dispute resolution, financial compliance, provenance integrity, and legal obligations. Program briefs may specify longer retention for delivered datasets.
7. Your rights
You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. Contact info@harborml.com. Some requests may be limited where Harbor must retain data for contracts, legal compliance, or integrity of delivered datasets.
